The last weekend in October is always jam packed with Pumpkin Carving Workshops for the Sand In Your Eye team. This year was no different, with the team facilitating Creative Pumpkin events and Workshops as part of community spook-tacular events.
Heading to Blackburn with Creative Pumpkin Fun
When Catherine from Blackburn Bid contacted us to see if we could facilitate a Pumpkin Carving Creative workshop as part of a larger Halloween half-term event she had planned, we jumped at the chance. This isn’t the first time we have worked with Catherine at Blackburn BID. We have previously installed our summer themed Sand Sculpture Trail as well as having facilitated other Pumpkin Carving workshops in previous years.
Staying Dry but Getting Gungy
Claire and Emma from the Sand In Your Eye team headed off in a van packed with tables and pumpkin carving tools, ready to set up the pop up creative pumpkin carving workshops. They were feeling particularly excited because this years workshops were being held in The Mall shopping center, so they were guaranteed to stay dry regardless of the weather.
What they couldn’t have anticipated was quite how busy the pumpkin workshops would be! Neither had the BID team, they ran out of pumpkins TWICE and had to go and stock up from the local super market so no child went home without their own pumpkin masterpiece!
Families of all ages stopped by and had their turn to create a monstorous masterpiece. With the guidance of our expert carvers, participants turned their pumpkins into unique creations. With over 400 pumpkins gutted and carved, the workshops were a hit!
Even without the weather to contend with, Claire and Emma were totally worn out, but equally thrilled to have been part of such a successful and busy event.
Feedback after the event was supernatural, with the Discover Blackburn team posting glowing review!
Bringing the Community Together in Blackburn
We are very proud when we get the opportunity to work with clients and communities more than once. Building a relationship with a local council or BID team and bringing creative opportunities to families in their areas is part of what makes us at Sand In Your Eye tick.
We’d like to extend a big thank you to Catherine and Blackburn BID for inviting us to be part of their magical Halloween Half- Term event. It was an incredible day, with an enchanting atmosphere, that we loved being a part of.
