At Sand In Your Eye we encourage partnerships and collaborations with organisations who have a strong climate change and environment message.
We are a member of SAIL, who support creative industries to be environmentally sustainable.
We’re delighted to announce that from the year 2021 we are (self-certified) carbon neutral! At Sand In Your Eye we strive to have a positive impact on the environment which is formed by these three main areas;
We are taking measures to reduce our own carbon footprint.
Our aim is for our events to have a minimal environmental impact, most projects use ephemeral materials; borrowing the sand as our canvas, where the sea washes it away with no trace. Ice sculptures that melt, pumpkins that after use get fed to local pigs, we also use eco friendly, non toxic paint for our land art.
With our residual carbon, we buy carbon credits supporting international carbon avoidance work. However, we understand that carbon credits are not ideal so our efforts are under constant review.
Using scope 1 & 2 emissions calculations, we worked out our unavoidable, residual emissions to be just under 14 tonnes of CO2, which we offset. By the end of 2022 we had reduced this figure to around 10 tonnes of CO2. (measured using Julie’s Bicycle Creative CG Tools)
