As artists, it was an honour to be asked to create an ice sculpture to showcase Sand In Your Eye for the Tate Britain instagram. We chose to create an interpretation of the Carnation Lily, Lily Rose painting by John Sargent from the Tate collection.

The ice sculptures were created in our ice sculpture studio, then transported to the perfect outdoor location. The ice sculptures took a few days to create using chainsaws, chisels and die grinders.

We thought it would be nice to photograph outside in the woods where our children play during twilight, much as Sargent did. Dave our paper sculptor has made some beautiful Lily’s, Roses and carnations and children interacted with the sculptures.
