It’s always great to be asked to collaborate with a client more than once, so imagine our delight when we received a call from Mark at Living Heritage asking if we wanted to come back to the Sandringham Estate for the Christmas Craft Food and Gift Fair for a three day live ice carving event.
Jamie was thrilled when he checked the calendar and found that he would be able to personally attend the fair as he had taken part in the event in previous years and had a brilliant time.
Jamie and Jonathan headed to Sandringham in the van packed with chainsaws, chisels and some magical elf outfits, the day before to get settled into their accommodation and a good nights sleep ready for the busy weekend ahead.
The duo woke up bright and early ready to set up in the Marquee. The plan was to carve 3 different ice sculptures over the three-day event that visitors could interact with once completed. The plan for day one of the event was to bring a Christmas reindeer to life from 6 120kg ice blocks.
Being seasoned experts in ice carving events the reindeer began to take shape without a hitch, drawing lots of spectators who watched on as the ice sculpture magically transformed, with a little help from Jonathan and Jamie, right in front of their eyes. By 3pm the Ice sculpture was complete, and the safety barriers removed so that curious visitors could get up close and have their photo taken by the 150cm tall glistening Reindeer.
By 5pm day one of the Christmas fair was complete so the team carefully wrapped the ice sculpture to help it stay chilled overnight ready for day two.
Day two of the event all went to plan and by 2pm the team had built and carved a stunning sleigh fit for Santa himself. A quick outfit change later and our Christmas Elves were once again ready to welcome visitors to explore the ice sculptures. The fantastic thing about an ice sleigh and giant reindeer is that they create the perfect photo opportunity for families. Making magical memories of an event simple to capture. This time event was no different, and the elves were all too happy to add that extra Christmas sparkle.
The morning of event day 3 the slightly weary, but no less enthusiastic team headed back to the marquee ready to finish the trio of ice sculptures with that all important ice postbox. Our ice post boxes create a magical opportunity for children to post their letter to Santa in a unique way. When the carving was complete Jonathan transformed into his elf alter ego for the final time and invited children to write a letter and post it into the ice postbox, creating another festive photo opportunity for families and forming lasting memories of an enchanting experience.
The Sandringham Christmas Craft, Food and Gift Fair was a real joy to be part of. With the weather bright and still but the temperatures being so low, the ice sculptures held up beautifully for the entire busy three day weekend.
Thank you to Living Heritage for asking us to join them once more, the fair at Sandringham really is a marvelous way to kick off the festive season.
