Sand In Your Eye’s Claire Jamieson and Jamie Wardley recently attended the Welcome to Yorkshire 2018 showcase event at Bradford’s famous Alhambra Theatre.
It was great to hear about all the things happening in our native Yorkshire, from the Tour de Yorkshire to the 200thanniversary of Emily Bronte’s birth at the Bronte Parsonage in Haworth to the upcoming series Gentleman Jack being filmed at Shibden Hall in Halifax, near to our studio in Hebden Bridge.
We learnt that tourism brings a staggering £8 billion into the Yorkshire economy. Wow! We often take our sand sculptures and engagement workshops to local festivals and events so it wasn’t a complete surprise, we know how much visitors love our beautiful county but it was great to hear how much gets fed back into the communities. There was some fantastic entertainment in the form of the Peace Artistes Street Band and the Bradford Festival Choral Society, amongst others.
It was also a lot of fun to meet and chat with people and companies from all over Yorkshire, it’s great to get a chance to see old friends and meet new people working within Yorkshire and show them what we do. The scrummy samples on offer at the Betty’s Tea Room stall and the Seabrook’s Crisps stall weren’t bad either!
To show off our ice sculpture skills we brought along one of our new ice carving innovations. We froze the Welcome to Yorkshire logo inside an ice sculpture, which is a really simple and effective (and cool) way of promoting your company beautifully and easily. In fact, we’ve done it in the past with our own logo. The same effect can be achieved with photographs and lettering, it will be made in our studio and delivered safely to your venue. This looks great as a centre piece or in pride of place but can also be combined with other ice sculptures or more intricate ice carvings, which we can pre carve and deliver along or can carve live at your event. All our ice sculptures last from several hours to a day and come with a drip tray to take away the melt water safely.
If you have a party or corporate event coming up and want to celebrate or promote something with one of our ice sculptures– please go to our contact pages and get in touch.
