We have over the years created many grass paintings for different events. Developing land art and our approaches is something we love to work on. When we were asked to make a trainer in realism on a football field, we couldn’t wait to get started!
We have worked with this realistic technique before with our bee painting and vote for climate, made from many layers of paint to build up this effect. You can’t really see the full design from the ground so you have to trust your design and the process and it works out! And with the help of Jamie Wardley’s drone to do checks!
We were really happy the weather was on our side for this 3 day drawing, as the days were long and with lots of layers and textures to apply, we needed the paint to dry quickly. The football pitch painting measured 30 metres. It was part of a marketing campaign for Footlocker Europe, for their exclusive TN Nike trainer. With its bold and distinctive colourway, the trainer looked really striking as a piece of land art. We are really pleased with the results of this grass painting.
