At the heart of our studio lies a paradox: we strive to create show-stopping imagery that leaves a lasting visual impression while leaving no physical footprint behind. Ice sculpture is perhaps our most poetic medium for this—a fleeting, ephemeral art form that is as sustainable as it is breathtaking.

When the subject matter is as iconic as the Burberry Equestrian Knight Design , the stakes are raised. To bring this symbol to life, we stepped into the sub-zero depths of our studio freezer, transforming a raw element into a masterpiece of frozen luxury.

The Craft : Merging Precision with Artistry

Creating the Burberry horse isn’t just about carving a shape; it’s about capturing the sense of movement and heritage that the logo represents. To achieve the level of detail required for a luxury brand, our lead artist, Dave, utilised a hybrid approach that blended modern technology with traditional craftsmanship.

We started with a single, massive block of ice. To ensure the proportions of the horse and the intricate “Prorsum” banner were perfect, Dave began with CNC machining. This allowed us to map out the complex geometry of the knight’s armor and the horse’s muscular frame with mathematical precision.

However, machine-cut ice can sometimes feel clinical. To give the piece its soul, Dave stepped in for a live carving session. Using hand tools, chisels, and even specialized bits to polish the surface, he refined the details that a machine simply can’t touch. The result was a stunning, high-definition ice sculpture that caught the light from every angle, looking both powerful and incredibly delicate.

Behind the Lens: The Freezer Sessions

Capturing ice carving on film can be difficult, getting the right angle, the right lighting and capturing the crisp edges and clarity of the design, but we love a challenge and discussed with the client what shots they needed for their socials.

We captured everything they wanted on an Apple iPhone as requested and sent off the RAW footage to Burberry, allowing their internal creative teams the ultimate flexibility to colour grade and cut the clips into a high-energy, sophisticated social reel to show on TikTok that aligned perfectly with their current digital aesthetic.

A Year of Innovation: Recycled Tennis Balls to Ice

This ice carving marks our second major collaboration with Burberry in 2025, and it’s been a year defined by material exploration.

Back in the Spring, we took a very different approach to the Burberry logo. For that project we crafted their logo on a large scale in a local field using recycled tennis balls. It was a playful, textural contrast to the sleek, cold elegance of our recent ice project.

Whatever medium we work with, the goal remains the same: to push the boundaries of how images can be experienced, capturing and exciting the viewer .
