This year’s Hebden Bridge Pumpkin Trail had a brand-new twist that delighted children and families alike – Light Art Workshops.
The ‘Pumpkins at The Pictures’ movie themed trail had cinema magic spread across the town of Hebden Bridge for the weekend 19-20th October. Once the theme had been decided it was time for the team to conjure up ideas for the interactive workshops that we would be running as part of the event.
Like a flash from a wand in the darkness, the spellbinding Harry potter light art workshop was a magical match. The Light Art Workshops hosted at Hebden Bridge Town Hall and ran by our talented artists, Claire and Emma! The sessions allowed children of all ages and their families to create their own glowing masterpieces using long exposure photography techniques—a fun, creative, and unforgettable experience that made the event truly magical.
A New Way to Experience Art
The light art workshops were an instant hit! Using slow shutter speeds, kids and families painted the air with light, capturing mesmerising swirls and patterns that appeared almost magical in the final photos. By waving torches, coloured light wands, and glow sticks, each child became an artist, and their creations came to life in stunning images that they could keep. It was a unique way to blend creativity, technology, and the cinematic spirit, leaving participants with both amazing memories and impressive artwork.

• THE DAWN OF SNOW AND LIGHT SCULPTURE ANIMATION FOR SAND IN YOUR EYE -We explored the interplay of light with snow and ice, creating an animated experience that captured the spirit of the winter with glowing trails and chilly magic.
• LIGHT ART WORKSHOP FOR WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY – working with young people from South Shields and Sunderland, teaching them the fundamentals of the light art for World Mental Health Day.
• LIGHT ART HIGHLIGHTS THE PLIGHT OF THE BEES FOR WORLD WILDLIFE DAY – We collaborated on a light art project that highlighted the importance of bees in our ecosystem, using light to illustrate the buzz and beauty of nature..LIGHT ART HIGHLIGHTS THE PLIGHT OF THE BEES FOR WORLD WILDLIFE DAY –
