We love our local valley and the incredible events that are there or the community. Hebden Royd Town Council set up an event last year, during the festive months called Light up the valley.
We took part in thier spectacular, mythically inspired event last year, see more on that event here: https://www.sandinyoureye.co.uk/2021/ice-sculpture/ice-sculptures-yorkshire/
This year, they took a more festive approach and we were asked again to take part, providing live carving of ice sculptures at both of their event dates at both local locations.
The first event took place in Mytholmroyd community centre, Dave and Jamie carved an ice post box, children were then able to write letters to Santa at the workshops alongside and place them into the post box, ready to be sent to Santa later by us.
After carving the post box, Jamie and Dave couldn’t help but don their elf costumes and do some very exuberant dancing to the Fat Cat Brass Band.
The next week our ice sculpture team of Jamie, Dave, Chris went to Hebden Bridge Town Hall where they carved an ice sleigh ready for Father Christmas to sit in and meet local children during the light switch on.
