When you think of the British seaside what comes to mind? Fish and chips, ice cream, beachballs, buckets and spades, seagulls pinching your chips? Golden sandy beaches, amusement arcades, strolls along the prom? Chances are you might be thinking of Blackpool – the quintessential seaside resort.

BBC Radio 1 asked us to meet them on the prom in Blackpool to create a very special piece of land art for their Summer Breakout, which saw the breakfast show DJ Greg James locked in a camper van on a tour of Britain. He had to solve clues with the listeners help to get out of the camper van.

Our street art featured several of the clues alongside a giant portrait of his fellow DJ Jordan North who had set him the challenge.

To create this striking piece of street art our team of artists started work at 4am. The road art was situated next to the Comedy Carpet and right in front of the iconic Blackpool Tower.

Jordan and fellow DJ Vick Hope climbed to the top of the tower to admire the view and the land art and I think they were impressed.

The street art measured 40 x 48 metres with Jordan’s face being 32 metres high alone!

We had a great day out in Blackpool despite the early start – it was great weather and we even had time for an ice cream on the beach at the end.
