While we were busy sculpting in Scotland we had a call asking if we could build a sandcastle in Birmingham for promotion of Jet2’s new flights from the airport there and of course we said no problem. We then soon found out that it would need to be complete for 9 am!
So Jamie and myself headed to Birmingham the night before and had a tasty Chinese meal and an early night. We arrived on site at the Bullring at 5 am and began creating the sand pit then started compacting quickly! It was a busy 3 hours of carving a big sandcastle in the then quiet city centre before the rest of the promotion team and local TV crew arrived just as we were putting the finishing touches to the sculpture.
As the directors of Jet2 arrived to film in front of the sandcastle, we had a well-earned coffee break then continued carving until 1 pm, chatting to the public, which was a lot more relaxed! It was a nice change to be finished and heading back to base by the early afternoon and we were really pleased to make one of our quickest sandcastles ever!
