With Halloween approaching, Manchester City Football Club gave us a call to see if we could host a pumpkin carving competition for their pre-match entertainment before the Capital One Cup game against Newcastle United at the Etihad Stadium.
When he heard there were tickets to the match included, Tom jumped at the opportunity and swiftly carved a silhouette of goalkeeper Joe Hart on a pumpkin to show the crowd how it is done.
The father son team Tom Bolland and Harry arrived before the match and within minutes, Tom took to the stage to showcase his pumpkin and begin the competition. The crowds were building for the game and along with pumpkin carving, there was live music and magic tricks as the atmosphere started to build.
After announcing Pepe, a lovely Italian chap, as the winner of the pumpkin carving competition, Tom and Harry headed into stadium for the match but soon realised that carving tools are not allowed in football stadiums! A quick trip to the car then back just in time for kick off.
It wasn’t a great result for the home side but it was an exciting match and great seats for father and son to watch their first match together. Thanks to Manchester City Football Club and all the staff for their hospitality.
