OUR STORY

It all started with a simple “Hello" to a fellow making a sand sculpture, followed by a definite “Yes" when he offered Jamie the opportunity to have a go.

WHO WE ARE

Fast forward a few years

We are now a wonderful team of enthusiastic and hardworking creatives based in West Yorkshire, but working all over the U.K. We also have an amazingly talented squad of freelance artists, sculptors and workshop experts who join us on larger events and busy periods.

Sustainability and climate consciousness is at the heart of what we do as a company, whatever we create.

We are a friendly bunch of people - get in touch to say 'ey up'!

JAMIE WARDLEY

From a background of Environmental Sciences and a love of art.
I founded Sand In Your Eye nearly 20 years ago.
It began with just me creating sand and ice sculptures all over the world, including ice hotels and sand sculpture festivals.
We have grown with a team of talented people, we create sustainable art, events and projects with some fantastic and inspirational partners and clients.
I feel very fortunate to be able to work on great projects that engage, inspire and bring joy.

CLAIRE WARDLEY

Jamie introduced me to the wonderful world of Sand In Your Eye around 10 years ago, where I was lucky enough to learn sand art.
I was so taken with it I decided to leave my full time job in design and a follow a career as a sculptor and land artist.
You can find me either on a beach, playing in the sand or in our studio chatting to customers and collaborators. No day is ever the same and I love it!

DAVE MARTIN

My passion for creativity, the natural world and all things wild is what led me to join Sand In Your Eye from a background in paper engineering. I love the broad range of substrates and sheer variety in the projects we do here.
You’ll mostly find me devising innovative project plans, getting stuck in on a job or in the kitchen rustling up a pie for the team after a hard days work.
Good Times!

EMMA WHYTE

You’ll mostly find me in the studio office, dealing with everyday tasks and keeping things running ship shape. When I’m done sending your invoices, I jump at the chance to get involved with our events and learn some new creative skills. Watch out for me in SIYE videos, I’m usually the one pushing a wheelbarrow!

SUSTAINABILITY

We’re carbon neutral!

At Sand In Your Eye we strive to have a positive impact on the environment which is formed by these three main areas;

  • Who we work with: We encourage partnerships and collaborations with organisations who have a strong climate change and environment message.
  • Campaigning: We campaign through our works to educate people about the climate emergency and how to tackle it. Examples include, huge sand drawings calling global leaders to action, planting forests in inspirational shapes, and using pumpkin festivals as an accessible route to educate.
  • Reducing our carbon footprint: We now measure our carbon footprint and have taken measures to reduce it.
