For Valentine’s Day this year, we ran an ice sculpture workshop for couples at Sand In Your Eye Studio. We were feeling ultra romantic as we had earlier in the day been helping to make our own wedding rings for our up and coming big day! We had couples attend from Hebden Bridge and a surprise Valentine’s Gift for one lady who arrived from Manchester with her husband looking rather confused as to what was going on! Jamie began the workshop with a quick demonstration and then the couples set to work designing and then making their own ice sculptures together. Once they had started chiseling away for a while and could see their sculptures take shape, everyone was so enthused and engrossed in what they were doing, they didn’t want to stop for a cup of tea and a cake. Part of sculpting is to stop and step back to evaluate, as you need to walk round and see your sculpture from many views to know it is right. After a quick break, it was back to work. It was great to see everyone’s sculptures progressing so well and everyone was pretty pleased with their results. At the end of the session we packed the ice sculptures for them to take home and place in their garden to slowly melt. Ice sculptures look so beautiful when they melt as they are constantly changing.
