Artist, Sculptor and Event Co-ordinator

 

Salary:             Circa £15K-17K (pro rata) depending on experience

Key responsibilities

We are looking for a creative, talented and enthusiastic individual to join our team in facilitating the making of sculptures and art nationally, and in our studio in West Yorkshire.

At Sand In Your Eye we primarily make sculptures in sand, ice and pumpkins. We make giant sand drawings on beaches across the country and work with clients in the media, local authorities, PR and charities. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our team of artists and play a key part in the growth of our company as we have just opened a new sculpture studio in Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge.

Your responsibilities will be multi-faceted and include sales, event management and sculpture:

With support and training, you will work in sales to secure events and develop creative ideas with clients. You will then project manage and lead events. This will require you to lead a team in our studio or on a location which could be anywhere in the UK.

On events you will liaise with clients and engage with the public as spectators or participants in workshops. Your practical responsibilities will be to make giant works of art on beaches, huge sand sculptures, ice sculptures with chainsaws, pumpkin carvings and you may even dabble in photography and light art.

You will also be involved in general administration, studio maintenance.

SKILLS

The successful candidate will be highly creative and talented. You will have proficient skills in drawing and experience in sculpture is an advantage.

You will be a skilled communicator and have the ability to work with customer enquiries, producing estimates, the confidence to work directly with clients, and good organisational and IT skills. You will be able to direct events and workshops with a can do attitude, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. You will be able to lead and inspire a team with enthusiasm.

The role can often physically demanding and labour intensive. You will be flexible and be willing to work nationally to secure our seasonal event schedule as well as have a full UK driving licence and be comfortable driving a van.

As well as these primary talents you may have experience in film, photography, animation, design, social media, website design, marketing, practical trade skills or something else that you may think would add to our dynamic company.
