We are currently working with Hebden Royd Council to re-create a series of images taken 100 years ago. The project is called Stepping Into The Past. The photographs feature people who would have been effected by the Great War and we will re-created exactly using people from today’s community. This will be part of the 100 years commemoration of the Battle of the Somme.
People of the past and the historical photographs that capture their image are abstract and represent events far from our reality. It is difficult to imagine that those people going about their daily lives did actually exist and were not just some element of fantasy where there were no cars and only horse and cart. But the fact is those people in the photos did exist, were are as real as you and me and were about to go to, or were in the midst of war. So the people who pose for these images will for that moment be able to imagine themselves as the individuals in the photographs. Those who view the images afterwards will be able to see the connection between the two era’s and understand the impact of war for everyone, not just those who fight themselves.
We need volunteers to pose in these photos. If you are interested in being part of something unique and will be marked in Hebden Royd’s history please get in touch, we would love to hear from you.
We will direct and pose you, leave everything to us. You will be dressed in your usual clothes, so no need to be in fancy dress!
