The children in year one at Merlin Top Primary Academy had an exciting time just after Halloween when they got to take part in a pumpkin carving workshop, to finish off an exciting week of spookiness.

The Children got to have a go at carving their own pumpkins around their theme of Funny Bones, a classic TV show and book that I used to love when I was their age! We had 8 children at a time making bones, houses and letters from pumpkins and 43 children took part.

It was great to work with so many enthusiastic children and for some of them it was the first time they had ever done any pumpkin carving! After they carved with me, they then worked with the staff at the school to decorate and glitter up their creations.

I really enjoyed getting messy and having a creative session with year 1’s and seeing how pleased they were with their pumpkins. Well done everyone!
